A 'grey market' product is one that is purchased from outside the regional distribution/dealer channel.
At Reef Photo & Video, we often hear from customers stating that they can buy the same products for less through auction sites or overseas vendors, known as 'grey market'.
We understand that you work hard for your money and want to part with as little as possible of it for photo gear, but often the bottom line price is not the best deal. Here are some of the manufacturers bulletins regarding gray market products:

It has come to the attention of SEA&SEA USA that SEA&SEA products are being offered for sale on the internet from potentially unauthorized sources.
SEA&SEA products purchased from international websites are suspect in authenticity, origin and do not carry a valid SEA&SEA USA warranty.
Any products purchased from these sources are suspect and do not qualify for warranty, after-sales service, or additional product support.
All authentic SEA&SEA products are sold and supported through an authorized dealer network in the USA.

Regarding Nexus Products:
We cannot discuss grey market products without addressing statements made by Nexus USA in regards to Reef Photo & Video.
At Reef Photo, we feel like we are unfairly a victim of some "clever" marketing by a competitor with a direct conflict of interest.
Nexus is distributed in the USA by Marine Camera Distributors in San Diego, one of our retail competitors. We have tried purchasing housings through this distribution channel, but were always competing directly against the distributor, with poor success and no support.
We determined that we could offer my customers better delivery times, prices, and after sale service by importing Nexus housings directly from Japan. Due to an exclusive sales arrangement between Nexus Japan and MCD, we were forced to source housings from several Japanese retailers.
We clearly listed this in our online product catalog. We preform all warranty service in house, or by shipping housings to our Japanese suppliers when necessary. MCD's statement about after sale service is profoundly incorrect, and would be disputed by every customer who has ever reported an issue to us with their Nexus housing purchased from Reef Photo.
